Australian Coking Coal Prices Trend Up as Buyers Return in China

Seaborne metallurgical coal prices are gradually trending up with Chinese buyers slowly returning to the market although trading activity appears thin due to lack of urgent demand from end-users.

However, seller sources expect restocking activities to take place in the near term, amid limited supply of cargoes with March and April laycan.

Meanwhile, there are still lingering concerns regarding Australian coking coal arriving in China.

PRICE ASSESSMENTS

Latest offers for the Premium HCC grade are assessed at around USD 208.50/MT FOB Australia, while offers for the 64 Mid Vol HCC grade are assessed at around USD 178.05/MT FOB Australia.

For Indian buyers, the above offers amount to USD 219.90/MT and USD 189.45/MT respectively on CNF India basis.
