Australia's iron ore (including pellets) export shipments witnessed a marginal fall of 6% in July 2022 to 71.3 million tonnes (mnt) compared to 75.8 mnt in June, according to vessel line-up data maintained with SteelMint.
Exports to China fall 7%
Australia's iron ore export shipments to the largest importer, China, recorded a 7% m-o-m fall at 60.4 mnt in July as against the previous month's 65.4 mnt.
Japan was the second-largest among the top importers in July. The country imported 4.82 mnt of iron ore from Australia followed by South Korea at 3.92 mnt.
Shipper-wise performance
Rio Tinto's shipments stood at 24.9 mnt followed by BHP and Fortescue Metals at 22.2 mnt and 15.8 mnt, respectively.
Exports from Port Hedland inch down
Port Hedland exported 44.9 mnt of iron ore in the month under review, down 5% m-o-m compared to 47.1 mnt in June. Exports from Port Walcott stood at 13.8 mnt followed by Port Dampier at 11.1 mnt.
