Australia Coal Exports Rise for Third Consecutive Month in June; Japanese Imports Up 27% M-o-M

Australia's coal exports have increased by 11.92% on a month-on-month basis to 36.65 million metric tons (MnT) in June, as compared to 32.74 MnT in May, registering the highest volume so far this year, as per the latest vessel lineup data compiled by CoalMint Research.
Moreover, on a year-on-year basis, the country's coal exports grew by 6.67% than the export volume of 34.36 MnT in Jun'18.
Furthermore, on a year-to-date basis, Australian coal exports have totaled 190.97 MnT in the first six months of this year, up 3.34% against the total exports of 184.80 MnT recorded during the corresponding period of the previous year (Jan-Jun'18).

Major Coal Importers from Australia in Jun'19:
Japan overtook China to become the largest receiver of Australian coal in Jun'19, followed by India and South Korea -- generally these four nations together account for approximately three-fourths of Australia's total coal shipments during any particular month.
More importantly, Japanese coal imports from Australia surged by 26.8% to 10.28 MnT in Jun'19, against 8.11 MnT in May'19.
Chinese coal imports from Australia rose by 6.5% to 9.57 MnT in Jun'19, against 8.99 MnT in May'19.
India remained ahead of South Korea as the third-largest Australian coal importer during the month of Jun'19.
Indian coal imports from Australia rose by 1.8% to 3.97 MnT in Jun'19, against 3.90 MnT in May'19.
South Korean coal imports from Australia rose by 4.5% to 3.42 MnT in Jun'19, against 3.27 MnT in May'19.
On the contrary, Taiwanese coal imports from Australia fell by 20.2% to 2.35 MnT in Jun'19, against 2.94 MnT in May'19.
