Australia Coal Export Down 9.4% in Nov'18 and Lowest in Last 6 Months

Coal shipments exported from Australia fell by 9.41% in Nov'18 on a month-to-month basis, as per the vessel line-up data compiled by CoalMint Research.
Australian coal exports totaled 30.35 MnT in the month of Nov'18, against 33.50 MnT in Oct'18.
However, on a year-on-year basis, Australia's Nov'18 coal exports have increased by 3.14% in comparison to 29.42 MnT of exports in Nov'17.

Major Coal Importers:
Japan remained the largest receiver of Australian coal in Nov'18, followed by China, India and South Korea -- these four nations together accounted for nearly three-fourths of Australia's total coal shipments during the month under review.
However, Japanese coal import from Australia fell by 10.75% to 9.69 MnT in Nov'18, compared with 10.86 MnT in Oct'18.
Chinese coal import from Australia fell by around 30% to 5.39 MnT in Nov'18, compared with 7.71 MnT in Oct'18.
India replaced South Korea to become the third-largest Australian coal importer during the month of Nov'18.
Indian coal import from Australia increased by 5.6% to 4.06 MnT in Nov'18, compared with 3.84 MnT in Oct'18.
South Korean coal import from Australia decreased by 14.2% to 3.50 MnT in Nov'18, compared with 4.08 MnT in Oct'18.
Taiwanese coal import from Australia decreased by 31.2% to 1.90 MnT in Nov'18, compared with 2.77 MnT in Oct'18.

Australia's Major Coal Handling Ports in Oct'18:
Newcastle sustained its leadership position as the largest coal handling port of Australia in Nov'18.
However, coal export shipments from the port fell by 20.2% M-o-M to 11.05 MnT in Nov'18, compared with 13.85 MnT in Oct'18.
Gladstone, DBCT, Hay Point and Abbot Point were the other major coal handling ports in Nov'18.
