Anthracite Coal Offers Stagnate at Week-Ago Rates

Anthracite Coal offers have remained stable at the rates assessed the week last.

The latest Anthracite Coal offers are assessed at USD 130/MT CFR India, unchanged from that the last week.

There was no improvement in demand for the coal in India as buyers prefered alternate fuels. The future market outlook is also bleak.

In an international round-up, the Ukrainian government plans to completely abandon usage of Anthracite Coal in power plants by the end of 2019. The plan to quit the usage of the coal is due to the domestic shortage.

IMPORTS

Anthracite Coal imports in India were very insignificant, primarily due to the prevalence of lackluster demand. During the period of 1-24May'17, only 93,900 MT of Anthracite Coal was imported in the country, data collected by CoalMint Research shows.

The importers were: JSW Steel, KIC Metaliks and Indian Metals and Ferro Alloys.
