R.P Gupta began his business career in 1972 with Electrical Turn-key contracts, diversifying into Cement manufacturing in 1985. He further expanded by adding an Iron ore beneficiation plant in 2006 and Sponge Iron Plants in 2017. Formerly the Chairman and Managing Director of Shiva Cement Ltd. until 2017, he is currently the Non-Executive Chairman of Shivom Minerals Ltd. He has authored two acclaimed books on the Indian economy; the first was launched by Shri Narendra Modi in April 2013, and the second by Sri Jual Oram and the Governor of Odisha in 2021.
