In Q3 2016, miners' iron ore production was higher by 1.5% Y-o-Y due to improved performance at mines in the northern Amazonian state of Para.

Company's pellet production, excluding Samarco's attributable production, reached 2.1 MnT in Q3 2016, 20.1% higher than in Q2 2016 and in-line with Q2 2015.

Pellet production was up due to resumption of the Fabrica beneficiation plant in the Southern System and the higher feed availability for the Vargem Grande and Tubarao plants. The Tubarao 8, Tubarao 3 and Vargem Grande pellet plants achieved quarterly production records of 1.2 MT, 1.8 MT and 1.8 MT, respectively, in Q3 2016.
