Turkey Iron Ore Import Down by 39% in Aug'16

Turkey, the world's eight largest iron ore importer has imported 0.58 MnT iron ore in Aug'16, according to the trade statistics released by Turkey customs.
Iron ore imports have witnessed a downfall of 39% M-o-M as it was 0.95 MnT in Jul'16. On similar lines, Turkey iron ore imports dropped down by 30% Y-o-Y as it was 0.83 MnT in Aug'15.
During the first eight months of 2016, the country imported 6.87 MnT iron ore, up by 4.5% Y-o-Y as it was 6.57 MnT in the same period prior this year.
The non-agglomerated iron ore (lumps and fines) import in Aug'16 was registered at 0.26 MnT, significantly down by 60% M-o-M and 47% Y-o-Y. On contrary, the agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) import was registered at 0.29 MnT, down by 37% M-o-M.
- Brazil, the largest iron ore exporter to Turkey has exported 0.26 MnT against 0.58 MnT iron ore in Jul'16. Exports from Brazil in the month of Aug'16 down by 55% M-o-M and 57% Y-o-Y.
- Sweden turned out to be the second-largest iron ore exporter to Turkey in the month of Aug'16 which was Russia last year. In Aug'16, the country exported 0.16 MnT iron ore against zero exports in Jul'16. The nation exports remained zero in Aug'15.
- Russia the third largest iron ore exporter to Turkey has exported 0.10 MnT iron ore in Aug'16. Exports in the month of Jul'16 was registered at 0.12 MnT. The nation exports remained 0.14 in Aug'15.
