Indian rebar prices are firm on D-o-D basis. However, in a week duration it fell by INR 400-1,300/MT; Industry participants are assuming that prices may remains volatile amid festival season leads to low sales.
Current offers for 12 mm rebar by secondary manufacturers are in the range of INR 23,500-28,500/MT ex-works, which was same on 20 Oct'16.
A bulk rebar trader in NCR (UP) based reported, "demand is quit subdued at this juncture expecting prices to remains volatile in a days to come as demand and supply chain will get disturbed on festive season.
Meanwhile, comments are being received from central and west India, where despite high inventory in plants, offers are marginally changed in last 2-4 days.
A Gujarat based billet and rebar manufacturer stated, "Shortage of scrap has somehow supported billet & rebar prices. He has also mentioned payment conditions are poor and anticipating prices will remain slightly change".
